Speakeasy, the first song in my Electro-Swing experiment, is now live on youtube.

Give it a listen:

It’s good. However, I think the trumpets should be a bit louder and brassier, if that makes any sense. I was just thinking the sound should sound like it’s in the tight, cramped environment of an illegal bar. Have you tried adding a bit of accordion in the background?

I really like this, but agree that the trumpets sound like they might be muffled?
It’s possible that they actually did muffle trumpets in some smaller bars though, was this intentional? Still the muffling of the trumpets seems to add a bit of murk? uncertainty? to the music which is not out of place, just different. I’d have to hear an non-muffled trumpet version to know for sure which I prefer.

    • What you’re hearing might be the trombone. The trumpets aren’t processed in any way- I’m just using a fairly mellow trumpet here. Though looking back at it, I could probably do some level adjustments.

      Also, thanks for listening!
